This is the fourth test in the 2300kv motor test series.  This time it's the RotorGeeks 2204 2300kv motor.  This is motor was a sample sent to me by RotorGeeks for testing (Thanks!). As always, please give me any feedback on ways to improve it or make it the comparisons clearer.  Once I've done the full bank of motors, I'll do a document sumarizing the direct comparisons.

Now on to the details!

Summary

As with the RotorGeeks 2205 2700kv motor I've already test from rotorgeeks, I'm very impressed with this motor.  The motor is put together extremely well, and I love the black matte finish. The bearings are extremely smooth.  The motor uses lower gauge single wire windings that are very neat.  Because of this it seems to handle high current with less heat than most of the other motors I've tested.  It got warm on some of the larger props, but much less so than most of the other motors.  Stator size is also confirmed to be true 2204.  Now on to the results!

Test Results

These motors performed AMAZINGLY well for a 2204 motor.  They actually outperformed the RCX H2205 2350kv motor on the heavier 5" rops (HQ 5x4/Gemfan Bullnose 5x4.5 and up)  By a significant margin on the larger props, though the RCX did a good bit better on the 4" and lighter weight 5" props.  I'd say for a 2300kv motor, there are very few even in the 2205 class that will outperform it.  Some impressive stuff here.  They still fell short of the Cobra, and I expect them to fall short of some of the other higher end 2205 motors, but I don't see anything in the 2204 range challenging them at all.  We'll see as I continue to test!
