Given the 2800kv test value for this motor, I was expecting some insanity here, and I wasn't disappointed! The older design definitely has a bit less torque than some of the newer models out, but what it lacks in torque it makes up for in KV! Because of the low weight and very high KV I ended up testing this motor an a larger range of props than usual as well. I traded some of the heavier 5" props for 4" to try to get an idea of the full range of capacity here. The higher KV and lower torque of this motor tends to drive up the current consumption and slow down response times on the heavier props, and that is clearly visible in the results. The heavier props did quite well, but if you compare it to a slightly lower KV motor of a similar design, such as the RMRC Rifle 2550kv (2620kv tested) you can see it definitely loses ground against the lower KV motor while pulling quite a bit more current. The 4" props overall did quite well, generating some solid numbers, but keeping the current draw in a much more managable range. Overall some interesting results here, especially given the low weight for a 2206. When comparing this motor to other motors in the 28g range, it becomes particularly interesting, because even with slightly lower torqure compared to modern 2206s, when compared to the 2205s in the same weight range, the Hyperlite is the clear winner.
