RCX has a long history of providing some of the most inexpensive motors in the RC hobby market.  The recent updates to their 2205 and 2206 motors have shown a fairly significant improvement.  The old H2205 were some of the lightest 2205 motors on the market, but the SE line has traded in some of that low weight for some increases in performance. Some of the same improvements from the RS2206 v2 are also shown here in the SE2205.  The heavier magnets and tighter air gap especially.  As a tradeoff, the weight has increased from 25.4g on the first SE2205 to 26.5g on the v2.  Other than the bearings and the magnets, not a lot has changed here.  The design is essentially the same.  The other change comes with the KV dropping slightly from 2700kv in the original to 2600kv in the v2.

Results

The results here were solid for a 2205, but given the insanity we've been seeing from the 2206 and 2207 class motors recently, definitely a bit conservative.  This definitely seems to be a motor more on par with the previous generation of motor than the current powerhouse generation, but given the light weight and low cost of these motors, that may not be a major issue. On 4" and light weight 5" props, this motor should do quite well.  It still manages to put out almost 1250g of thrust at only 32A on the 5x4x3, and it will likely do even better on the v1s tri-blades with their slighlty lighter loading, though I didn't have those props in yet when I tested this motor.  Overall the cost and weight make this motor a definite option for entry level ultra-light builds with the right power train.
