ZMXv2 2206 2140kv Full Results  [CLICK HERE]

This is the lowest KV of the 3 ZMX 2206 offerings. NOTE: This is still v2. The production edition is v3 and is 7075 aluminum, this version is pre-production and still 6063. Performance should not be different however.  I should have the production version of the 2300kv version on the bench soon as well.

This motor follows on the insanity of its 2600kv sibling with a much more tame KV rating.  The production quality is the same, with same excellent machining, smooth bearings, and tight tolerances.  The magnets are the same, in fact the bell is identical except for markings, as the KV is defined entirely by the windings.  The weight is also the same at 28g.

While the 2600kv version of this motor is all about raw power at all costs, this motor really excells in terms of efficiency.  It still produces excellent power, coming very close to matching most of the 2205 2300kv N52 motors I've tested, especially on heavier props, where the sustained load is very close to even the top performers of the 2205s.  However it has two significant advantages over the 2205 motors, response and efficiency.  The acceleration of even the lighter propellers on this motor is vastly faster than any 2205 I've tested.  Compared to the top 2205 2300kv motors on a 5x4x3, the ZMX 2206 can push more sustained thrust at lower amp draw and better response on the 5x4x4. Across the board this motor gets 3-5A less current on the same props than the range of 2205 2300kv N52 class motors without a significant sacrifice in thrust. That is fairly impressive.  I see another niche for this motor as 5S starts to become more common.  The larger stator size here and light weight is going to make 5S a real option, with loads of power and not insane amp draw.  Overall this motor saw excellent performance with much better efficiency than most of the other motors I've tested, while staying very light and giving the option of future expansion to higher voltages.  Definitely an interesting combination.
