ZTW Spider 2205 2550kv Full Results  [CLICK HERE]

This is a new motor from ZTW that recently hit the market.  Silver-Drone created a branded version with a few tweaks and sent one over for testing.  This is the high KV version. I've already tested the 2300kv version of this motor. Once I've done the full bank of motors, I'll do a document sumarizing the direct comparisons.

Summary

As with the lower KV sibling, this motor falls in the ever popular 2205 class, this time with a higher KV rating.  Build quality is solid. Bearings feel smooth and machining quality is excellent.  The motor weighs in a little under 28g. The windings are tight and look good, though a slightly thinner gauge than the DYS and ZMX motors single wire windings, which seem to be the closest competitors in the performance/price range.

Now on to the bench results!

Test Results

The interesting thing about this motor is the KV rating.  The motor is labelled as a 2550kv, but the tested KV is even higher than the 2633kv motors I've tested, coming in at almost 2700kv.  That puts this motor in line with the RotorGeeks 2205 2700kv, the ZMXv1 2633kv, and the DYS MR2205 2750kv (which test is coming soon!).  Performance wise it is so close to the ZMXv1 2633kv and the RG2205 2700kv motor that you could probably run them on the same quad and never notice a difference.  Almost every prop was within 10g and about 1000 rpms. Overall this is a very solid performer in the high KV market, getting good performance on both the 4" and light weight 5" props.
